This planting was made possible thanks to the cooperation of three players: the City of Paris, whose green space agents were involved not only in the preparation, but also in the running of the planting days, students from the 13th year of the CSR and SD Master’s program at the Ecole des Mines ParisTech, and the Boomforest association.

Situation of the site before planting: a large mound of fill, covered by a lawn maintained by the city’s services

A month before planting, the soil is turned and amended thanks to the coordination of the Tree Departement of Paris

Now the site is ready, all that’s left to do is to mark out the zones where groups of volunteers can gather… and there’s sure to be lots of them!

Straw transportation should not be underestimated, depending on how easy it is to get to the site… !

Symbolic opening of the site: Boomforest and Manisha, from the CSR and Sustainable Development Master’s program at Mines ParisTech, who launched the idea for this project with her group!

City of Paris green space technicians were on hand to train volunteers and pass on their experience to the general public

3 months later, the mound is gradually being transformed… life has already returned, stronger than before. What will become of the little trees?

First weeding and follow-up with the children who came to plant: the straw allowed many of the seeds it contained to grow, which was a bit of a surprise, but nothing dramatic.
